Beijing has been ranked first in the world for eight consecutive, while Shanghai has surpassed the New York metropolitan area to take second place globally. The New York metropolitan area has dropped from second to third place compared to last year while the Boston metropolitan area and Nanjing have taken fourth and fifth place respectively. The top ten also includes the San Francisco Bay Area, the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area, Guangzhou, Wuhan, and Tokyo.
