A device that encodes and converts signals or data into a form of signal that can be used for communication, transmission, and storage. The encoder converts the angular displacement or linear displacement into an electrical signal, the former called the code plate, the latter called the code ruler. According to the read-out mode of the encoder can be divided into contact and non-contact two types; according to the working principle of the encoder can be divided into incremental and absolute two types.
