When consulting with customers on a daily basis, we find that many of them confuse the frequency and bandwidth of linear motors. In issue, we will briefly introduce the differences and connections between the two.

The motion frequency of a linear motor refers to the number of completed motion cycles in a unit time. It is usually measured in Hertz (Hz). For example, 10 Hz means that the linear motor completes 10 back-and-forth movements 1 second. The motion frequency of a linear motor depends on its structural design, the frequency of the driving current, and the damping characteristics of the system. bandwidth of a linear motor refers to the frequency range that the system can effectively respond to. For a linear motor, the bandwidth usually refers to the frequency range in which the motor can stable output from low frequency to high frequency. The unit of bandwidth is also Hertz (Hz). The relationship between motion frequency and bandwidth Frequency response: The bandwidth of a linear motor determines the range of motion frequencies that it can respond to. If the motion frequency is within the bandwidth, the motor can effectively generate; if the motion frequency exceeds the bandwidth, the motor's response will weaken, and even it may not be able to produce effective motion. System design The bandwidth of a linear motor is affected by its mechanical structure, electromagnetic characteristics, and control system. Designers need to consider these factors to ensure that the motor has sufficient bandwidth in desired motion frequency range. Control signal: The frequency of the current signal driving the linear motor should be within its bandwidth to ensure that the motor can accurately respond to control signal. If the frequency of the current signal is too high or too low, the motion performance of the motor will be affected.
